Soda Pop Stop

On Sunday, we had an adventure in Los Angeles. We took our friends, Craig and Stacy, and drove them to a small grocery store in LA called Galco's Soda Pop Stop. It's a small grocery store filled almost entirely with soda. But not just any soda. This store only holds the most unique sodas. Many, in fact, are only sold at this location. There is a wide variety to choose from. You can have some fancy root beer, or you can have a cucumber soda, or you can have vanilla soda where you can still see the fuzz from the vanilla bean that was used. I was told it's very rare to find a soda made from actual vanilla bean. The owner of the store is a cute old man who seems to get excited each time you ask him for help choosing a soda.

Check out this video about the store featuring the cute old man.

Wow look at all the soda we got!

Gabriel's Baby Dedication

Gabriel was recently dedicated to the Lord at our church. Why a dedication instead of a baptism? Richard and I believe that a person shouldn't be baptized until he/she commits his/her life to the Lord. Since Gabriel is too young to fully comprehend what that means, we don't baptize him. Instead, we pray over him and ask the Lord to watch over him as he grows. It's our prayer that one day Gabriel will decide to follow Jesus, give his life to the Lord, and be baptized.

Here is a picture that was taken when Richard was introducing the family before he prayed over Gabriel.

Gabriel meets Paw

Gabriel is Bob's 7th grandchild. All the kids call Bob "Paw". Each time I say "Paw", Richard corrects me and tells me to say "Pawwww". You see, in the south, you have to draw out your words. I think Richard wants to impart some of his southern habits on Gabriel. Anyway, someday I'll learn to say it right, but as of right now, I continue to be reminded that I'm not Southern enough. Maybe I need to eat some more fried chicken.

Gabe and Paw hit it off right away. They hung out...

...stared at each other...

...and took naps together.

The adults had fun too. Bob loves the Opera. So, being in LA and all, we went to the Opera! We went to see The Turn of the Screw. This is a picture of us before we left.

And of course, we couldn't possibly let Bob leave without a visit to the beach.

We enjoyed another great visit with family.

Great Grandma Foley

Gabriel, meet your Great Grandmother! I hope you're as smart as she is.

Richard, Gabriel and I met up with family, including my grandma (mom's side). Gabriel's birth made my grandma a GREAT grandma! It was a relaxing day and a nice visit.

I never realized how much I really look like my Grandma. This picture showed me how alike we are.

This is my Aunt Sondra and her kids Emma and Anna.

We had a great visit, and even get to see them all again at Easter time!
